The Charité Research Organisation
(CRO) is a Contract Research Organization that has been established with
one
objective in mind - to better serve the unique needs of the early clinical
development community than any organization before it.
Based in Berlin, at the very heart of Europe, the CRO was founded in collaboration
with Berlin's famous Charité University Hospital.
This relationship fosters a level of cooperation with centers of clinical excellence
that we think is unique in the industry.
Indeed, we believe the CRO offers a whole new approach to the concept of partnering with centers of clinical excellence to facilitate access
to patients, clinical expertise and specialist methodologies in support of early clinical development programs.
Founded in 1710, the Charité sees in excess of 120,000 in-patients per
year and a further 900,000 on an out-patient basis, making it one of the single
largest
and most diverse patient resources within Europe. It is also one of Europe's
premier centers of research excellence with over 100 million euro in research
funding each year.
Run independently of the Charité administration, as a company with it's
own dedicated management, staff and administration, the CRO provides complete
early development
solutions from "First-In-Man" through Phase II. Clinical pharmacology
studies are performed in our own, dedicated, ICH GCP compliant research unit
located
within the central campus of the hospital.
Complete early development programs are undertaken at the CRO, with a seamless
transition from the first healthy volunteer studies to
early work in patients - a transition helped enormously by the patient resources
on hand. Of course, our capabilities extend well beyond basic clinical pharmacology.
The widest possible range of pharmacodynamic studies can be performed - supported
by the
methodological excellence at our disposal within the Charité network.
