Managing atopic dermatitis is complex and often faces challenges such as treatment resistance, medication adherence or identifying triggers. Individual therapy needs to be tailored to patient needs and disease severity. The ideal outcome in atopic dermatitis  patients would be no itch, no rash and no adverse effects. In this review article, we present the current standard for managing AD. We discuss the most advanced new drug developments, such as the monoclonal antibody amlitelimab targeting the OX40/OX40L pathway and the oral TYK2 inhibitor ICP-332 for systemic administration. In addition, novel topical therapies will be introduced such as ointments of the pan-JAK inhibitors MH004, CGB-500 and LNK01004 and the antimicrobial gel zabalafin.

The Charité Research Organisation has long-standing experience in the conduction of early phase projects for new medicines to treat atopic dermatitis.

We want to share our expertise in this review article.
